The common definition is tuning into an outside consciousness and synthesizing that message through language. People can channel beings and consciousness from other realms, from beyond death, aliens, archangels, spirits…you name it. Some people confuse being posessed with channeling. In my opinion being posessed is having your free will be suspended during that time, and usually, being possessed means communication with lower astral plane beings, dark spirits and generally not light beings. I stay away from all that.
Beneficial channeling is when a person reaches out using their free will to simply receive a message, inspiring guidance or ideas that would be helpful to themselves or others. Channeling can always be paused. Although I've heard that some people need to go into a trance to channel, that has not been my experience. I think one should always be in total control when interacting with the information.
I propose a different definition of channeling: catching inspiration. To me it's like having a butterfly land on your finger and you joyfully explore it while it tells you wisdom of the universe. Then you learn how to call upon the butterfly. And then you learn to call upon its butterfly friends.
I easily entrain to consciousness of archangels, higher selves, souls, ascended masters and Creator, the universal wisdom. I've even "channeled" real living people which surprised me greatly. Maybe my soul already knows that we're all One and any person can have a telepathic connection to anyone else living in a body or in the non-physical realms. Somehow the words just come. Beautiful teachings and concepts flow, many new to me and somehow they're just right for the person I'm working with. Maybe I'm channeling you, my client, through me, to myself because I need the teaching as much as you do! Or I simply bring forth a rememberance for you. You already know all this, but your soul has brought you to a message that it needs your conscious and logical mind to hear. Through synchronicity people like me can be a catalyst through which you receive the message.
I never sought out to be a channel. I've always been pretty intuitive and my goal has always been to just hear my intuition better to help me with life's questions and challenges. After receiving my reiki master teacher attunement in 2010 things got weird and interesting. I started receiving new symbols, their names, how to use them. The guides of the reiki channels would just pop this information into my consciousness. At first words came, then sentences, then full on lectures. I was floored. Then I asked to connect to archangel Michael and it worked, I started receiving so much beautiful wisdom. Becoming an advanced ThetaHealing practitioner also helped me connect with what ThetaHealing calls "Creator of All That Is". That terminology suits me just fine and soon I was also doing higher end healing work. I'd literally know a person's wrong belief in their programming and I'd know how to help them release it and reframe it to a more positive way.

Channeling is all about embodying the infinity, knowing that you are a part of that and have access to any point within it.

You're connected with them literally through you, which through the network of all, accesses that flavor of the consciousness. I've tried many modalities of healing and have grown to love and respect many of them. I've tried tapping and crystal bowls, meditation and NLP. I've tried shamanic work and breath work. Some yielded results, others turned me off. I practice and teach yoga, I adore Reiki, I love ThetaHealing. But they don't always work every time. None are a panacea. They're just tools. How to know which tool to use when and for your particular issue? Save yourself the time and money and ask your higher self! Your higher self will always guide you as to the best tool for you for that particular issue. That's why I love channeling. It's a universal hookup that offers guidance as to best way to proceed. All my work starts with channeling.
Yes it is! And it is through the imagination that these portals open. Imagination is the keyhole for our logical mind to peek through in order to connect with the infinite potential of All That Is. Let's re-define imagination. Imagination is that part of us that's actually hardwired into the field of creativity, that infinite potential where anything is possible. It's also a connector to the superhighway of information. Once you're on that highway, you have access to all points of everywhere, the entire universe. You can "drive" to have a cup of tea with Archangel Michael or ask your higher self which vacation destination would be of most benefit to you.
I questioned "who" exactly I'm hearing for months before my mom has asked me to channel in Russian for her friends. Even though I'm fluent in Russian, I left my homeland at 10 years old and I am not one of those arduous students who read Russian literature to beef up my vocabulary. My language versatility is not very wide, yet when I would tune in, words and phrases unknown to my working memory started coming up. My mom being a linguist was shocked and kept asking me: how do you know how to say that? That's older style of Russian. I'd just say, that's how I heard it. Eventually I gave up my questioning and resigned to the fact that I truly am bringing forth something beyond my personal consciousness. And in a way, that was freeing because it freed me of the responsibility to solve everyone's problems. The information that came in lead our clients to come up with their own solutions.
Our soul is perfect and complete, but our consciousness and the unconscious mind occasionally need to be shown a different framework. We tend to get stuck and plateau so it's always good to reach past our comfort zone and shake up our programmed view of the world. Perhaps my version, my piece of the universal pie will inspire you to enrich your worldview. We all need a vacation from our usual perception. That keeps life fresh. It's like going abroad to be enriched by how others live and their perception of life. I have benefitted immensely by seeking outside help from people, Spirit, attunements, workshops, education, downloads, meditation… eventually to rediscover that the answers are usually inside me and can be accessed through myself. You too, have all the answers within you, but on occasion it takes a little help from the "outside" to re-tap into your source on a conscious level.
No, because the future is in your hands, dear one, and in no way would I, or any other being, even of the most light and love, would want to take away your freedom to choose for yourself. You create your future and although there are many possible outcomes from your choices, you should never limit yourself in your infinite creative potential. Channeled guidance simply opens you up to a wider range possibilities while you get to steer your life. It's meant to stir up the creativity pot inside you and help tap into your own higher guidance.
